QEPNT Hub Prinicipal Investigator, Professor Doug Paul, features in Nature Comment ‘A roadmap for future-proofed time’, discussing the need to develop national backup systems to protect against the outages in GPS-based timekeeping for accurate, resilient timing.
Alongside fellow authors Leon Lobo and Chander Velu, Doug discusses three key steps that could facilitate the development of alternative time sources worldwide: increasing buy-in from business; linking up existing, heterogeneous local timing systems; and creating entirely new uses for time.
